Combining massage and cupping in a session can be incredibly effective, as each therapy supports and enhances the benefits of the other, providing a deeper level of relaxation and healing.
Cupping Therapy
Combining manual and vacuum therapy
Cupping is great for relieving chronic muscle tension and pain and can be used to treat conditions affecting tendons, ligaments, joints and other myofascial issues. It is excellent for addressing chronic aches, pains or tense areas. For those recovering from surgery, massage can be used to increase mobility and reduce restrictions over scars and recently repaired joints. Cupping is often employed by professional athletes to enhance recovery and performance. It is also beneficial for all us weekend warriors who did a little too much in the garden or on our bicycle over the weekend!

There are many benefits of cupping primarily due to the increase of circulation of blood and lymph. Improving circulation helps to release stagnant blood and metabolic waste which acts to loosen and relax the tissue. The vacuum action of cupping hydrates and separates the various layers of tissue, skin, fascia, muscle, tendon etc. Cupping also helps to break down adhesions (knots) and scar tissue. Additionally the movement of blood, interstitial fluid and lymph can help improve immunity and reduce inflammation.
By combining cupping and massage therapy, I can maximize the benefit of the session by focusing time and effort in the areas that are creating the greatest blockages. I can apply static cups to an area while working on another area, essentially doubling my effectiveness!
